High-energy food, high digestibility
You’re good at deciding for yourself what’s best to eat and what’s not, but you’ll have to do the same for your dog. Do you and your dog have an active lifestyle? Do you like to spend hours walking, romping and exercising together? Then you should wait to do these activities together until your dog’s tummy is less full. So its food better be as close to what he needs as possible.
Opti Life Prime is specially formulated for this: high-energy food that’s easy to digest. The high content of quality animal proteins (up to 85% animal protein out of the total Opti Life Prime protein content) and fats in our three, grain-free recipes plays a crucial role in this.
Metabolisable energy
The proteins and fats are made so that they are optimally converted into metabolisable energy (meaning, energy that can be used for processes in the body such as growth and muscle building). Your dog's body absorbs this food in the best possible way. Moreover, the kibble is grain-free and therefore easier to digest. Ideal for active dogs and owners.
Opti Life Prime is purposely made with dried chicken or dried salmon. With kibble made from fresh meat, a lot of moisture is lost (up to 70%) so not much remains in the final result. What it says on the Opti Life Prime packaging is actually in the kibble. This way, the kibble also keeps better and stays tastier for longer.
What does an active dog need?
Like any dog, active dogs need plenty of animal proteins, fats, additional minerals and vitamins. Like humans, dogs recover well after physical exertion if they get enough protein (among other things) in their diet. But why protein in particular?
A dog gets energy from three macronutrients: proteins, fats and carbohydrates. These three components are in all varieties of dog food. But the more there is of one ingredient, the less there are of the others. So the more proteins and fats there are, the less carbohydrates.
A lot of carbohydrates consist of simple carbohydrates (quick-acting sugars) and provide energy that burns faster. As a result, these might seem to give your dog a boost, but that will subside shortly afterwards, after which their energy needs to be replenished. So your dog will get hungry again or experience an energy dip faster! Proteins, on the other hand, are more long-lasting and converted into energy that is released gradually into the body. Just what your dog needs to keep moving and feel in tip-top shape throughout the day.
Optimal balance of proteins and fats
Proteins are hugely important for all kinds of processes in the body. They build and maintain muscles, the nervous systems, as well as organs, etc. Above all, proteins are also essential sources of energy. Although you can obtain them from both animal and vegetable sources, a dog can digest proteins from animal sources best. Think fish, meat (healthy organs such as heart, liver, lungs...), etc.
Fat is the largest and most efficient source of energy. Fats also contain vitamins such as vitamins A, D and E, as well as Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. Among other things, these fatty acids help prevent possible joint problems and inflammatory reactions. But these healthy fatty acids also support heart health and the immune system.
Ideal for difficult eaters!
