Ouessant sheep

Ouessant sheep are a very exceptional breed because of their very small build. The rams' height of max. 49 cm makes them the smallest sheep breed in the world. They are easy to keep and tame, because they have a very calm and pleasant character. Ouessant

These sheep originate from the French island Ouessant. The island has colder climate with lots of wind and rain, which prevents the grass from growing much. That is why an Ouessant sheep is perfect to keep on a smaller pasture with little grass.

In France the Ouessant sheep is only recognised when it has a black or white colour. Outside of France, brown and grey colours are also officially recognised.
